Partnering to Build Sustainable Health Systems

From our first hospital partnership in 1992 to today’s multi-country initiatives, AIHA has managed nearly $400 million in awards — delivering locally-led, locally-sustainable health interventions across 43 countries.

Locally-driven Solutions Across Four Continents

AIHA got its start establishing hospital-to-hospital partnerships linking U.S. health institutions with counterparts in Eurasia, later expanding into sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean.

Our approach includes rigorous work planning, participatory project design, and substantial commitments by the recipient country — all key elements in achieving sustainable, tangible results with high degrees of local ownership.
